Plastic fortresses & roaring monsters

I was sitting in the back yard and through our fence I could see two small girls playing. Running about, chasing their puppy, laughing and squealing. One was probably 4 and the other 5. Their dad was mowing the lawn while letting one daughter at a time pretend to be the driver. For a good ten minutes, they took turns. Giggling and anxiously waiting their turn. As I watched, I thought THIS is happiness. Youth, it’s so precious yet often forgotten. Young, free, no worries or cares in the world. Adventurous and curious. A sheet of plastic held up with a rake was their fortress — their protector from the evil animal roaring [barking] outside. Imagination. Have you ever just sat and watched a child? Actually observed what they do. It’s remarkable. Everything is an adventure of some sort. Everything is new & beautiful through a child’s eyes. They could teach and show us so much if we only took the time.
