The name’s Latrina and I’m 23 years old. I’m living in Mississippi but meant for much bigger places. I’m a college graduate & I’ll hopefully have a career involving either art or music. Those two things have influenced the person I am today. Not only those, but so have the family and friends I’ve been blessed with. For the past year and half, I have been helping my two sisters with their 1yr old daughters by babysitting five-six days a week. Exhausting but very fullfilling. I love God and Jesus and I have all faith in them. I’d say I’m more spiritual than religious. I don’t attend church but thats only because I have not found the right one. I’ve been able to experience true love in my life, I’ve met the guy I believe God has given to me: for strength, for love, for a shoulder, for every ounce of a reason one person needs another.
My mother passed away when I was 18. I believe everyone has a reason to be here, and I think she’s completed her quest in life: too bring happiness to all around her - and she done that every day. No other women will ever equal to her in my eyes, she’s remarkable. Knowing she is in a much better place, gives me a reason to continue on & not be afraid of life, or death even. Thanks, Momma. <3
I believe I’m a philospher, I love to learn new things and think more deeply on the things I already know. I love to dream and I believe our minds are full of information we humans wouldn’t even know what to do with. Life itself fascinates me and as long as I’m here on earth, I’ll be interested in learning new things, exploring new places and meeting new people — be inspired and hopefully inspiring others on the way.
MUSIC.
It’s my life. I’ve been intrigued by it ever since I was a child. I play a little guitar and piano/keyboard. I love learning new things and being able to say ‘Wow! That was tough, but I completed it and it sounds GREAT.’ It’s remarkable how a couple tunes, instruments, and a melody could bring on so many emotions. It’s an amazing thing to experience, let alone create. And I love every ounce of it. Theres no better feeling than having headphones over your ears, completely tuning everything around out, while your tunes are resonanting in your head; Of course, besides concerts. The genres I love are: rock, alternative, post hardcore, indie, acoustic, experimental, screamo, progressive, electronica, and hardcore. Some of the many bands and musicians I admire are: Anberlin, Lifehouse, Emarosa, Coheed and Cambria, Prize Fight Inferno, Explosions in the sky, Joshua Radin, Imogen Heap, Playradioplay, William Fitzsimmons, Sigur Ros, Paramore, Mae, Queen, A Fine Frenzy and theres many more, trust me.
ART.
It’s in my blood. I’ve been drawing since I was able to hold a crayon. I actually still have a self portrait I done when I was four. I sketched until I was thirteen, then I got my computer and discovered Photoshop. Now I do pretty much a little of everything. Draw, paint, watercolor, web design, illustrations, portraits, photography, crafts, scrapbooking. Creativity is a blessing. Art and music are my escapes.
INSPIRATION.
I’m inspired by so many special people. There’s Chris, my wonderful boyfriend, for starters. He’s helped me to be a much stronger individual & I owe most of my happiness and joy in life to him. He brings out the good in me & I’m for ever thankful. My Mom & Grandmother are both strong willed and amazing ladies and I adore them. Stephen from Anberlin. <3 His faith and his amazing words & view on life inspires me and makes me strive to be a better, smarter, spiritual, and kind person. Jason Wade from Lifehouse does the same. He’s been a role model for the past 7 or so years and I strive to be just half as amazing and talented he is. They both are the two most amazing musicians & they are the reason why I’m so into music. And of course, Freddie Mercury from Queen. <3 The guy is a legend and will forever be in my heart. Zach Braff, a talented actor, comedian, writer, and a beautiful human being. His words & movies inspire me and make me smile. :) Christopher McCandless, a brilliant man. God & Jesus, I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for them. They allowed me to be the person I am today, they offered me so much & every day I make it a purpose to thank them. <3
